How I Excelled

This assignment was the Opening Statement Oral Presentation and it took place in Language Arts. In this project I would define excelling as not shaking or saying "um" during the presentation. In this project we were "interned lawyers" and we had to write an opening statement about the case, The State of Oregon vs. Dannie Deluca. The State of Oregon tried to prove that Dannie Deluca committed manslaughter in the first degree. Dannie Deluca is trying to prove that he did not commit manslaughter in the first degree. After we were done writing our opening statement we had to present it in front of a class like a real lawyer would. The purpose of this project was to see your presentation and speaking skills when you talk to a huge group of people in a professional manner. My first artifact is the self-evaluation form. This artifact was to self-assess yourself after the presentation. We had to first fill out what we thought we did the best during the presentation. Then we had some multiple-choice questions asking what we might have done better. This artifact is showing success because it took me a long time figuring out what I did bad on my presentation.

You could see from the artifact that I got a 5/5 which proves that I did good at self-assessing myself. The second artifact is the scoring sheet. This artifact is the sheet where my teacher scored me on for the presentation. For this project I got a grade of 45.5 out of 45. It demonstrates me excel because I got about a 45.5 out of 45 so this grade is saying that I met all my requirements. The thing that allowed me to consistently achieve was asking help from my parents. I have not been too successful in Language arts because it is my weakest subject, but when I got help from people on how I should say things when presenting. It really helped me, and I could excel in the presentation part of the opening statement. For this project it was individual, and I had to do everything by myself. I used communication the most because I had to communicate with the audience and try to connect with them, so I know what to say to them which will make the "jury" or audience know what I am saying.
